Using Flow Alignment Channels

Multiple flow alignment channels exist to help you enter the flow state. They all work to downregulate the activity of the prefrontal cortex of the brain as well as to quieten your inner critic. This is necessary to make our actions more automatic and open up subconscious action. Slightly challenging activities work best, like stretching, balancing, and being in nature is also a great way to initiate a flow period. Here are the primary flow alignment channels:

  • Sensory Flow Alignment: auditory, visual, chemosensory, tactile, thermoreceptive, sensomotoric and vagal (stretching, balancing, strengthening, and breathing exercises)
  • Cognitive Flow Alignment: intention, mindset, habit building
  • Social Flow Alignment: group activities, with equal participation, shared goal, and a culture of unity
  • Environmental Flow Alignment: Spending time outdoors

How to Achieve the Flow State – Creating Flow Trigger Habits

I coach people in flow, helping them to build a flow personality through the use of flow triggers. Ritualisation is crucial whereby you need to build good daily flow habits. As mentioned, social flow alignment is one of the main flow channels. Within a group, we flow better and for that reason, I run flow group sessions. I am thrilled to have teamed up with the team at identi, the social habit tracker app.
